Description: 

The preferred candidate will undertake a range of tasks to support the planning cycle in a project team of a large organisation in The Hague, The Netherlands in 2016. The total project size is 200 days.

Requirements: 
  • A university degree in Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research (OR) or related mathematics based scientific discipline.
  • Recent and extensive experience in the application of OR techniques for the analysis of problems, particularly in planning and operations.
  • Experience with the collection and collation of data, and analysis of the data (using a range of tools but predominately MS Excel and MS Access).
  • Experience with preparing results in terms of MS PowerPoint and MS Word.
  • Experience with using a range of Operational Analysis tools such as spreadsheet analysis, VBA coding and macros, limited use of GIS, simulation, simple statistical analysis and the use of Solver. 
  • Ability to effectively support staff in the creation and updating of supporting documentation/reports in the English language.
Desired experience: 
  • Prior experience of working for a military organisation while supporting Planning tasks.
  • Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements.
Personal attributes: 
  • The ability to work in a fast paced environment providing fit for purpose, quick analysis as directed by the analysts.
  • Ideally, the candidate possess good briefing skills and the ability to successfully communicate findings in a clear, understandable manner.
  • Ability to produce accurate (i.e. validated and consistent) data sets under time pressure.
